Projects
The study of medieval graffiti in English churches began in Norfolk in 2010. Thanks to the efforts of Karen Wardley and others it is now well established in Hampshire.
‘Celebrating Hampshire Historians’ began as part of the Institute of Historical Research Centenary Celebrations in 2021/22. The aim was to create a catalogue of mini-biographies of historians (and archaeologists) who researched, published or lived in the county – and who died before the year 2000. Over 200 profiles have been created and the intention is to make them available as a ‘print on demand’ book or as web pages.
A number of pointers to interesting walks, or sites, can be found in ‘Off the Beaten Track’ Examples include the search for OS benchmarks in Basingstoke, greenways in Southampton, and archaeological sites. Members are invited to offer their own itineraries!
