The origins of the Millennium Publication lie in the provision of a small grant to the erstwhile Hampshire Archaeological Committee so that it could produce a strategy document for the county. The changing nature of archaeological provision made this a difficult proposition at the time and it was eventually agreed that a review of recent work would be a better idea. With financial help from the Field Club, editorial assistance from Dr Nick Stoodley, contributions from eight authors and a lot of hard work by Sue Anderson, who compiled the gazetteer, a summary of two decades activity was produced.
